How To Make A Successful Construction InvestmentWhy We Use A 2Step Quote Process - Image 1

While technology, the Internet, and online services have provided us with a quick way to find information and a convenient way to shop, there are some purchases that require more care and consideration than others.  When it comes to purchasing a major construction improvement for your home, there are several online services that match customers with local professionals.  Some roofing companies are even willing to pass on quotes over the phone or online in order to get your business.

This is where Precision Roofing Services is different than most other home improvement contractors.

We understand how busy life can be.  Working long hours, family obligations and social activities consume all of our precious time and shopping online is convenient.  It doesn't take much time and you can do it in the comfort of your own home or during lunch break at the office.   If those shoes you ordered online don't fit or feel comfortable, you simply send them back, request a refund, and keep shopping until you find what makes your feet feel good.

However, when it comes to making an important home improvement investment, like a new roof, it's not so easy to simply "ship it back" and some contractors are not very cooperative when it comes to fixing mistakes or doing what it takes to satisfy the customer.  We won't mention names here, but we have recently received phone calls from two separate customers who hired the same local contractor to install a new metal roof.  One job was installed improperly and was not approved by the local building inspector.  The contractor has not responded or attempted to resolve the matter.  The other customer is now having to seek legal help in order to resolve the mess they made of his roof.  Both customers contacted us seeking advice and a quote for a complete tear off and start over.  How unfortunate for these homeowners.

That's why, at Precision Roofing Services, we believe taking the time to meet with and researching a potential contractor not only makes sense but will protect you from serious and costly problems in the future.  Anyone can provide you with an estimate over the phone or online.  But when it comes to a major home improvement investment, the critical success factor is the contractor.  A qualified, professional, experienced contractor knows what results are required for owner satisfaction, as well as what will lead to dissatisfaction down the road.

At Precision Roofing Services, we continue to do business with our customers the "old-fashioned" way, which we believe sets us apart from other roofing companies.  We use a 2-step process to prepare your quote. We may take a little longer than companies who are willing to quote you over the phone or online, but our customer satisfaction record proves to us over and over again, that we are doing it the right way for our customers.

When you contact us for a free quote, we will first set up a time to meet with you at your home or business.  We refer to this as the "measure call" appointment.  In order to provide you with the most accurate quote possible, we must first evaluate your project, take measurements, take images, get on the roof if necessary, inspect the inside of your home for water stains or other signs of leakage, and if you have an attic in your home, look inside to check for adequate insulation and/or ventilation.  This information is then used to carefully prepare your quote.  We require the property owner be present for this first appointment as it provides an opportunity for you to get to know and qualify us as a contractor.

Before we leave the measure call appointment, our home improvement consultant will schedule a second appointment at your convenience.  We encourage all decision makers in the household to be present for the second appointment.  Allow yourself a minimum of one hour to sit down with us where we will explore the problems, products, and prices for your project.  You will be surprised at how many options and questions can be discussed with our professional home improvement consultants.

Taking a few hours of your time beforehand, getting to know and qualify a contractor prior to hiring them, will save you endless hours of time dealing with dissatisfaction. A recent survey showed that most dissatisfaction with contractors involved an owner who did not fully know what they selected or committed themselves to.  A professional contractor will take pride in their work and will have no problem taking the time to discuss your options, their experience, and their list of satisfied customers.

The following are a few helpful questions you should ask of every contractor when considering who to hire for your home improvement project:

  • What is the full name and address of the company?
  • Does the company carry insurance and is the coverage adequate?
  • Is the company a licensed contractor?
  • How long has the contractor been in business?
  • What is the contractor's track record for handling complaints?
  • What is the company's workmanship warranty?
  • What are the payment terms?

We realize your time is valuable and we want to make the most of it.  We stand by our reputation and still believe after years of doing business in the Mid-Michigan area, that we are on the right track when it comes to providing quotes for home improvements.  Setting aside adequate time to discuss the details of your home improvement project will go a long way when it comes to making a wise investment in your home or commercial business.
